“In some sense, man is a microcosm of the universe; therefore what man is, is a clue to the universe. We are enfolded in the universe.” David Bohm
The Power of Kabbalah Mysticism
This post marks the second post in a series of 12, each post will distill the essential wisdom from the principles of the Kabbalah. Kabbalah is a discipline and school of thought that reveals the mystical aspect of Judaism. The purpose is to explain the inseparable relationship of the unknowable infinite creator, with the mortal human being. It is a set of esoteric teachings that gives an individual a deep understanding of god.
Kabbalah teaches that God is neither matter nor spirit, but is the creator of both. Kabbalah has many practical applications, allowing one to practice the wisdom and experience the evidence from the perspective of the observer. It gives you the wisdom of discovering the light in yourself and everything around you.
Principle 2: Two basic realities exist, our 1 % world of darkness and the 99 % realm of light.
Modern-day Quantum Physics is finding that our material world, what we can see and touch constitutes essentially only 1 % of our actual reality. They have found that there is a field that permeates everything and out of which everything is created. This field is beyond our sense’s perceptions. I am neither qualified nor is it this post’s purpose to expound on the latest breakthroughs in quantum physics. What is important to understand is that science is finally proving what many ancient cultures have always known, that there is a field of pure potential of which reality is constructed. For an accessible introduction to quantum physics, I recommend Brian Greene’s “The Fabric of The Cosmos”.
Practically What Does This Mean For Us?
So if we are only experiencing 1% of our total reality with our physical senses, how do we tap into the field of all possibilities with our limited perceptions? The field of infinite possibilities is pure consciousness, so to tap into it we simply need to transcend our physical senses and become more aware and conscious. We can become more conscious and aware through meditation, through disciplined meditation, you will experience the realization that we really are intimately interconnected with everything in the universe.
The problem is that most of us never go inward so we never become aware of a deeper reality that exists and permeates everything. We are conscious beings, but our minds are constantly occupied by interpreting reality through our thoughts and senses. You stay grounded in the physical world by constantly having your consciousness occupied with incessant thoughts.
Meditation helps put distance between your consciousness and your thoughts. Just think of your consciousness as the silent observer and witness to your thoughts, remember your true identity is not your thoughts, only a certain aspect of you. Your true nature is the silent observer. The more you meditate the more distance you create between your inner witness and the thoughts in your mind. With this space, you are able to not become attached to your thoughts. You start to transition from constantly being reactive to your environment, to being proactive, because you have the space to observe and respond to the present moment.
The more even-minded and calm your mind gets, the more manageable your thoughts become. Your thoughts become less and less through disciplined meditation. When you reach a state of no mind, when your mind is not dividing its attention to the thoughts it has, you experience being more conscious and awake. When you are in a state of no mind, your consciousness is free to mingle with a higher universal awareness. You can say that you are connected to your higher self.
“The ability to perceive or think differently is more important than the knowledge gained.”- David Bohm
When people say that out of thin air, an epiphany or inspiration has stuck them, this experience comes from a place of no mind. To many this will sound like a bunch of new age rambling, this is something you can’t understand philosophically nor logically, this is something you have to experience for yourself, that is the only way to know. If you don’t experience it for yourself, your logic and knowledge will keep you from understanding. I encourage you to become more conscious and aware through meditation, and start your journey today, with time I am confident that slowly you will prove to yourself, that there is more than meets the eye to the reality that you are experiencing.

The idea of meditation is not that much clear to me. How do I start to meditate? How do I know if I’m meditating? Is just something you can feel? And what exactly we’re supposed to feel and to truly know through full awareness and conscience? I keep finding news questions behind those but there’s something I shall talk about.
I must admit that I haven’t dedicated much time to ‘traditional’ (if I can say that) meditation. But I’ve felt something several times: I felt me and the universe were one. Most of the times I was alone but sometimes I’ve felt it with others, small groups or just my girlfriend. I wonder if I was able to reach a ‘no-mind-state’ by simply walk for hours and hours in the nature. Mountains, beaches, fields, plains, rivers… I feel a process in that walk, I start with many things on my mind but then I focus more and more on each step and the sounds around me and the light (because I’ photograph). Suddenly I’m not thinking anymore about how good the picture will look (I put down the camera many times), about how tired I am, about the place I want to reach, about the time I need to get back… while I’m walking I’m just walking. When I reach the destiny I stop and I look around.. everything as it should be. Do you know that feeling or is it just me?
