The Power of Opening Up

“My whole artistic life has always been about change, change, change, move on, move on. It’s the only thing I find interesting.” Paul Simon

The Time Is Now To Open Your Mind

This life is dynamic, so be open to the world, constantly expand your perspective, and open your mind. Quit limiting yourself by keeping your inner being closed.

The deeper I go down the path of inner transformation, the more I realize I don’t know anything, and at the same time, my understanding of the whole is deepened. This is not just a logical understanding but something that you feel deep within you, you know it as your own personal truth.

The more I go back to unlearn and unclutch everything that was given to me, the deeper my understanding becomes. Anything that I did not experience on my own I only accept hypothetically.

When you become more conscious and awake you are able to keep your ideas fluid, you are not restricted to a narrow point of view. You open your mind to the possibilities.

Once you become aware of your own awareness, go back and unclutch yourself from your old limiting ideas. You no longer need to be bound by them. When you have this type of clarity you can go back into the mental storehouse of your mind and see how your decisions have played out until now.

You will see that all your conscious decisions were built on top of deeper unconscious decisions that ultimately had the final say in how your life turned out.

You will see that everything you are is the culmination of everything from your past. But once you expand your awareness you will be able to not be bound and molded by old ways of thinking. With this type of clarity, you will be constantly renewing and updating the ideas you have of yourself and the world. You will have increased clarity of who you were, who you are, and who you want to be.

Interesting things begin to happen in your life the moment you become open and fluid. You will see that the constant updating that you do within your inner space will change the way you experience the world. You will start to not see yourself as separate from the world. When you begin to experience your environment from the perspective of being inseparable from you, you will notice that it draws people, situations, and circumstances to support your desires.

Instead of struggling with your environment, you learn to go with the flow and respond to it in the most beneficial way. The outside world will begin to change according to the changes you make within yourself. So when you are constantly renewing and updating, you will see that life is constantly unfolding in new miraculous ways. Life is never dull, you move with life.

Understand Your Ego To Open Your Mind

Your ego is essentially your self-image, it’s the mask you display to society. Your ego only survives by constantly seeking approval from that which it wants to identify with.

This is why if you want to be open to new experiences you must learn to drop your ego, your ego only likes the old and comfortable. Therefore all the unhappiness you experience comes from the constant battle of your ego seeking approval in the outside world.

Understand this life is always new, yet we always react with old answers. By nature this is the way we are wired, we have an experience and then tuck it away in our mind’s memory.

Just learn to watch that whenever you are confronted with a new situation, you will see that your incessant mind chatter is just you saying “no” to life. You are saying “no” to it because you have no reference for it, even if it looks familiar. Even a situation that looks identical is not the same, life is always new.

“I try to open up my heart as much as I can and keep a real keen eye out that I don’t get sentimental. I think we’re all afraid to reveal our hearts. It’s not at all in fashion.” -Paul Simon

From Thinking to Feeling

To not become a prisoner of your ego and mind you need to learn to step outside of it. Meditation is your master key to creating the necessary space, to become an unattached witness to your internal world. When you are able to create that space you will come to understand how your ego is operating and then you will be able to drop it.

Meditation will also help you become aware of the different aspects of your being. You will learn to become aware of your body and emotions without having your mind corrupt them.

You will be able to respond and not just react to life. You will learn to trust your gut feeling and develop your intuitive abilities. Your intuition is what will help you take the next step when your mind becomes stumped by an unknown experience. The mind is a great servant but a terrible master.

Examine your beliefs, they were never truly yours, they were given to you by others and society. Beliefs are easy to have because someone has already done the thinking for you. But when you learn to open up, you will develop the trust and courage to make the leap into the new and unknown. You will see that anything you labeled as great in your life happened because of you opening up.

Start today by making the conscious decision that will you become open to whatever life gives you. Learn to change whatever can be changed and to accept whatever can’t be changed.

Remove blaming and complaining, these are just unproductive habits that will never change your life. Remove these habits and your judgment grows with experience.

Open your mind, learn not to judge your situations, but learn to judge your actions. Are your actions in line with your desires and higher purpose? Thank you for taking the time to read my article.

  1. Hi Ivan,

My brother forwarded me a link to your blog about five months ago and I’ve been hooked ever since. Needless to say, I have found your insights inspiring, uplifting and powerful. Whenever I’m having an offday, I go to your blog and my mood is instantly refreshed, like magic!

I’ve been writing poetry for ten years, and have finally found the courage to publish my work online on my own blog. It is still very new (just being a few mnths old.) But I was hoping or wondering even, if you would kindly add my link to your posts? I know it is a lot to ask and thank you in advance for your consideration.
